FlashClip.net started with a product. The FlashClip was a combination bounce and diffuser for digital cameras. It clipped onto the camera and softened that harsh built-in flash. We made it for one reason: to help people take better product photos for eBay.

Back then, a lot of listing photos were dark, blown out by flash, or both, and the item was often hard to see. A little bounced, diffused light fixed most of that. Along the way we started writing up what we'd learned about cameras in general, and those pages became the rest of this site. The oldest of them date back to 2010.

The technology changed. Most people sell from a phone now, and a phone's flash is something to turn off rather than fix. The goal is the same as it was, though. We want to help you take clear, honest photos of the things you sell, so buyers know exactly what they're getting.

That's why the product photo guide comes first on this site. Our general camera tips, for pets, parties, kids and the rest, are still here too.
