Kids & Baby Photos
Updated October 2026
Kneel down. Photos of kids from adult height are mostly the tops of heads. At their eye level, you're in their world.
Forget "say cheese." The real smiles show up when they're busy with something they love, like painting, bubbles, the dog, the park, or explaining a very long story about a dinosaur. Keep the camera handy and wait for it. Burst mode helps with toddlers, who never hold still.
For babies, use soft window light and keep the flash away from their faces. Take the little details too: hands, feet, eyelashes, a fist wrapped around a finger.
Hand the camera off now and then, or set a timer, so you're in some of the photos. Your kids will want those later.
When you share online, think about privacy settings. Keep school names, uniforms and your house number out of the frame.
